Alan Colburn, Science Education Editor

Alan is an associate professor of Science Education at California State University, Long Beach, where he has been since 1995. Before going to Long Beach, Alan taught in the Science Education Center at the University of Iowa, where he received his Ph.D. (in Science Education) in 1991. He also has a master's degree in biology from the University of Illinois and other degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Carnegie-Mellon University.
 
Before his higher ed days, Alan taught high school chemistry at the Haverford School in suburban Haverford and physical science in Iowa City.

Alan’s research interests include preservice teacher education, inquiry-based science teaching, and technology. At last count, he has written about 24 articles and given almost 30 professional presentations, plus a number of workshops.
